Lionel Messi’s son Mateo showed he may just be a chip off the old block when he went viral for scoring five goals for Inter Miami’s Under 9s.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Footage emerged of the youngster running rampant in the kids’ game in the United States. As well as scoring a fine free-kick for the Florida club, he went on to net four more times in an excellent individual display for his team. He even copied one of his dad’s most famous celebrations for one of his goals by blowing a kiss.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
It’s not the first time one of Messi’s children has gone viral for some impressive work on the field. His eldest son, 11-year-old Thiago, showed off his fine skills and scored an excellent goal to help his U12 team to win the Easter International Cup final earlier this month.
WHAT NEXT FOR MESSI?
After seeing his son impress for his youth side, Messi will hope to build on his own impressive goal record this season when the Inter Miami senior side return to action. After scoring his fifth goal in as many MLS appearances this season as they beat Sporting Kansas City, the Argentine will be out to fire them to a win against Nashville next week.
