Fans are confused after finding out Brock Purdy’s ratings in Madden 25. EA’s popular football game makes a point to accurately rate every player, but fans believe that in recent years the developers have made it a popularity contest.
The latest entry into the world of Madden football took the gaming world by storm with its sleek graphics and several new additions including physics-based tackling, reloaded hit stick, and ball carrier control. However, the part that every player wants to know is the ratings of the quarterbacks.
Coach Yac, an X (formerly Twitter) account, shared a tentative list of quarterbacks with the highest overalls in Madden 25 with Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes topping it with 99. The list goes on with Lamar Jackson (98), Joe Burrow (93), Josh Allen (92), Dak Prescott (90), Tua Tagovailoa (88), Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert (87), Brock Purdy (85) and Kirk Cousins (84).
Each year EA rates the players based on their awareness, skill, and more importantly their performance from the previous NFL season.
There’s good cause for fans who believe Madden no longer considers performance as a criterion for rating players. Instead, they are making decisions based on which player is more popular and their background.
While Brock Purdy led the San Francisco 49ers to consecutive NF Championship games and a Super Bowl, he has lower ratings compared to players who have just one playoff win in their career. Justin Herbert (Oregon) and Jalen Hurts (Alabama) both come from a reputed college program and were high draft picks in contrast to Purdy who was the last pick of the 2022 draft.

However, these aren’t the final numbers. In fact, they are the exact same overalls from Madden 24. The new game is still under development so perhaps the creators have yet to update the new ratings. The release date according to Dexerto is August 25.
The Iowa graduate remains a point of debate. A majority of football analysts don’t put much faith in him as an elite quarterback. Recently NBC’s Chris Simms claimed if Packers Jordan Love was playing against the Chiefs, then the 49ers would have easily won in Super Bowl LVIII.
Despite that, Purdy’s teammates have always come to his rescue claiming he is the best QB for the 49ers job. Even three-time Super Bowl winner Ed McCaffrey said that the 24-year-old will remain with the franchise for a long time.
Meanwhile Purdy is due a contract extension. He is currently on a four-year rookie contract and earns $934,252 annually which is outside the top 100 best-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
