“Playing for a dictatorial murderer,” Brandel Chamblee SLAMS Phil Mickelson’s $200 million move, says “I’d love to see LIV go away”

Golf commentator Brandel Chamblee labels Phil Mickelson as one of the golfers he’s most disappointed in.

Brandel Chamblee in a recent interview with Golf Week blasted LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson saying his $200 million decision “really hurt the game” where he could’ve been one of its biggest contributors. He couldn’t help naming the 6x Major champion as one of the golfers he’s most disappointed in.

“Playing for a dictatorial murderer,” Brandel Chamblee SLAMS Phil Mickelson’s $200 million move, says “I’d love to see LIV go away”

Chamblee stated that nothing Mickelson says will change his mind, as he hates the Saudi-backed league’s very existence. “I’d love to see LIV go away,” the golf commentator noted. He further believes Mickelson and other golfers signing with LIV is “directly helping MBS” which “to me, that’s indefensible.

He further added that whatever Mickelson is doing or accomplishing on LIV Golf is “benefitting that regime” and in the end helping them to raise their reputation and broaden their economy. Chamblee has been a strict PGA defender and despite current Tour players softening stance, he remains adamant to “not lose sight” of what the Saudis have done to a lot of people.

“The fact remains that he is playing for one of the worst people on Earth who does horrible things to a lot of people…I don’t think we should lose sight of the fact that they’re playing for a dictatorial murderer. That’s who they’re playing golf for.” – Brandel Chamblee as per Adam Schupak of Golf Week.

Despite their differences, Chamblee is open to sit down and have a chat with Mickelson, but the latter “did not want to do that.” Reporter Schupak also questioned if Phil Mickelson will ever have the chance to return to one of the PGA Tour’s biggest events – The Masters.

Although Brandel Chamblee himself would love to see the golfers back on the Tour, he can’t forget how they left in the first place. On a skeptical note, he replied that people and even pro golfers may hug out their differences as “we live in a pretty forgiving world” but he can only do so if LIV vanished from existence.

Brandel Chamblee reveals reason why he’s disappointed in Phil Mickelson

Brandel Chamblee believes Phil Mickelson had the popularity to make a difference in the game and bring it to great heights. However following his move from the PGA Tour, it has all been for naught. He admits Mickelson’s play has been of an “aggressive style” but it brought joy to the people as they loved him for his “risky, crazy” plays.

Unfortunately, joining hands with the Saudi league was like a betrayal to PGA Tour, as Chamblee believes “he turned his back on the game”. He further expresses disappointment as the American golfer joined LIV at a crucial time when the PGA may have had its transformation if not for the golf divide.

“I’m disappointed in him because he could have left the game in a better place…he turned his back on the stage that made him who he was…” – Brandel Chamblee as per Adam Schupak of Golf Week.

Chamblee feels let down not only for Mickelson’s actions but also for all the other golfers who followed suit. According to him, they were all busy climbing the ladder but they’ve “done a disservice” to those people who placed the ladder there before them.

The merger came as a peacemaker in times of chaos, but no official decision on it has been made yet. With golfers divided between leagues, fans are upset about not getting to see the fields filled with top golfers anymore. The merger talk is progressing, and hopefully, it’ll bring a solution that will not only satisfy the fans but also help to grow the sport further.
