Making the cut in a golf tournament guarantees you a check, but it doesn’t guarantee you’re going to play anything close to engaged golf. Phil Mickelson made the cut at the Masters on the number, at +5, and when you’re that far back, you’re not coming close to winning. Even so, you want to make a better showing on the weekend than this:
HE WHIFFED. Granted, Phil was stuck in the trees with no angle and no real hope, but still … man, that hurts to watch.
Mickelson went triple bogey-bogey to start the fourth round, which meant that he played a 12-hole stretch at 11 over par.
Ahh, but he wasn’t done with his excursions through the trees. Not. Even. Close.
