Phil Mickelson vs Tiger Woods: Is LIV Golfer’s 2024 Career Earnings Better Than the PGA Tour Loyalist?

Have you ever heard of the saying ‘Money Talks’? Because in Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson’s case, it sure does! Both of them are not only recognized as the top golfers worldwide but also counted among the wealthiest athletes globally. Curious who is ahead of the other in the money game in 2024? Well, get ready because the answer is quite surprising.

The golf legend is having a tough season so far. The reason, you ask? Well, Woods only participated in four tournaments this year- The Genesis Invitational, the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship, and the U.S. Open. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational citing influenza and missed the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.

Think that’s the worst part? Well, think again. Because the 82x PGA Tour winner, finished dead last at T60 in the 2024 Masters and made a decent amount of $44,400. And that’s all the money Tiger Woods has made on the greens in the 2024 season so far.

Everyone’s favorite LIV golfer, Mickelson, has played in over ten LIV tours and three PGA tours. After not performing well in any of the LIV Tours, the golfer’s start in the PGA Tour was also sloppy. Notably, Mickelson missed the cut in the 2024 PGA Championship and the Open. Interestingly, only the Master’s tournament worked out well for Mickelson, as it had for Woods. The six-time major winner used his incredible s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s and finished at T43 at the Augusta National, making a whopping $72,000.

There are several ways for a sports entity to make some fortune, and one of the best is having brand partnerships. And everyone’s beloved lefty certainly has a few! By teaming up with top brands like Callaway Golf, Rolex, ExxonMobil, and BMW, he’s become a $400 million man! These collaborations have elevated his career, as well as made him one of the wealthiest golfers in the game.

Meanwhile, during his long and illustrious career, Woods partnered up with some of the leading brands out there, including Bridgestone, Monster Energy, Rolex, TaylorMade, and a 27-year-old deal with Nike, which ended in early 2024. Similar to Michael Jordan’s success story with Nike, Tiger and the US brand were a match made in heaven.

That’s not all. The golfers still have time to level up their 2024 performance and earnings at the Royal Troon. With players like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson competing for the Claret Jug, who do you think will win the 2024 Open Championship? Let us know in the comment section below!
