The San Francisco 49ers’ training camp is scheduled to begin on July 25, yet there has been no progress in Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation. This ultimately compelled the star wide receiver to take a definitive action and so he officially requested for a trade from the 49ers.
49ers unlikely to trade Brandon Aiyuk despite cap constraints
While talking about how the 49ers’ Super Bowl window is likely to be closed without Aiyuk, analyst Wright argued that there’s a very slight chance that the franchise will actually fulfill Aiyuk’s trade request. He believes, just like how receiver No. 1 Deebo Samuel landed his desired deal after requesting a trade a year ago, so will Aiyuk.
He backed his argument by saying the reason why the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs were able to trade their star wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Tyreek Hill respectively, is because they have quarterbacks capable of carrying the entire offense on their shoulders, however, the Niners do not have that luxury.
