Max Verstappen and Red Bull heading into the Japanese GP after a dismal weekend in Melbourne. The reigning world champions needed to bounce back from its retirement in the last race. Subsequently, Verstappen and Sergio Perez had a great outing at Suzuka with the team’s third 1-2 finish of the season. Now, the Dutchman has shared his thoughts after his incredible win.

The 26-year-old was delighted after the race. Max Verstappen pointed out that the race start was critical which even led to Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon crash on Turn 2. Nevertheless, the Dutchman kept his lead following the restart. The three-time world champion felt that the RB20 constantly improved over the course of the race.

It was very nice, the critical bit was the start - to stay ahead. And after that, the car got better and better for me throughout the race.

Max Verstappen said

Verstappen praised Red Bull for good race strategy and pitstops. So much so, that the three-time world champion claimed that the race simply could not have been better. The 26-year-old was happy to overcome the ‘hiccup’ from Australia and once again stand on the top step of the podium.

Pit stops went well, strategy went well, couldn't really have gone better. The last race was a little hiccup but happy to be back here and back on top. It's fantastic to win here!

Max Verstappen prepared for ‘hectic’ Chinese GP

Formula 1 finally returns to China in two weeks time. The Chinese GP last took place five years ago in 2019 with the race being forced off the calendar due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the country’s lockdown policies. Moreover, the Shanghai race will be a sprint weekend giving teams only a single practice session to get the right set-up.

Max Verstappen admitted that the Chinese GP would be rather hectic due to the Sprint format. The 26-year-old claimed that it would be interesting to see how teams fare with just a single practice session on the track’s return after a gap of five years.

It's going to be quite hectic with the Sprint weekend and then only one practice session to get into it, so it will be interesting!

Max Verstappen said

Certainly, Max Verstappen and Red Bull will aim to continue their winning ways in Shanghai. The new ground-effect cars will hit the Chinese track for the first time this year. As such, fans would be excited to see if Verstappen can continue his domination on yet another circuit since he was crowned an F1 world champion.
