Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic had nothing but kind words for co-star Kyrie Irving after their win over the Houston Rockets.
The Dallas Mavericks managed to hold off the Houston Rockets in overtime, 147-136, behind their star duo.
Kyrie Irving led the team with 48 points while shooting 60% from the field and making 15-of-17 from the stripe. He also made 3 triples and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Luka Doncic, meanwhile, complemented Irving’s output with 37 points, to go along with 9 rebounds, 12 assists, and 2 blocks.
The two shared a hug when the game ended as the Mavericks completed a 22-point comeback.
As he was talking to reporters in the locker room, Doncic praised Irving’s performance and talked about the value he brings to the Mavericks.
“[Kyrie] is an amazing player. There’s nothing much more than that. Great guy, amazing player, and just helps everybody on the floor,” said Doncic.
Irving also shared his thoughts on hugging Doncic after the hard-fought overtime win.
“Luka was like, ‘I’m tired, man.’ That’s why I just hugged him at the end of the game. He left it all out there… For us as brothers to embrace each other, we know how hard we’ve worked,” said Irving.
“When the game is done, and the buzzer sounds, it’s good to give your brother a hug and let him know, ‘Hey man, you did a great job tonight.'”
The Mavericks own a 48-30 record and are currently 5th in the West standings with four games left in the regular season.
