Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic believes he could have played better to complement Kyrie Irving’s brilliance in Game 4.
The series between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers are tied 2-2 after the Clippers took Game 4, 116-111.
The Mavs came back from 31 points down but didn’t have enough to steal the win, despite getting 40 points from Kyrie Irving.
Luka Doncic had a triple-double of 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists but he told reporters after the game that he could have done more to help Irving.
“I just got to help him more,” Doncic said. “I feel like I’m letting him down, so I got to be there. I got to help him more. He’s given everything that he has, and he’s been amazing for us the whole series.”
Doncic was listed as questionable before the game because of right knee soreness, which has affected his lateral movements.
“It’s hurting obviously, but it shouldn’t be an excuse, man,” said Doncic. “Just came out and a little sloppy, so I gotta be way better than that.”
The series now shifts back to Los Angeles for Game 5.
