Yuki Tsunoda, the VCARB F1 driver had a memorable outing during his home Grand Prix at Suzuka. Starting the 53-lap Grand Prix in tenth place, he was on it from the get-go, and seeing his mighty effort, Red Bulls’ Helmut Marko made an extremely bold claim.

The Red Bull team adviser believes Yuki Tsunoda‘s performance in Suzuka was on par with the race winner, Max Verstappen. The Dutchman won the event handsomely in his RB20 with a margin of over 12 seconds.

Yuki got away sensationally well at the second start. His overtaking maneuvers were the show of the day. The fans were completely over the moon. His weekend was on a par with Max, [Fernando] Alonso and co. [He was] faultless, a super performance under the pressure of his home race.

The 80-year-old veteran of the sport has left no stone unturned in applauding the 23-year-old Japanese Driver. Tsunoda performed really well throughout the race and at the end of it all, secured a well-deserved P10 finish.

Helmut Marko also pleased with Yuki Tsunoda’s calm team radio interaction

Yuki Tsunoda since joining F1, has had a reputation of being a bit of a hot-head. Over the years, his radio outbursts have attracted immense criticism toward him, but to the surprise of many, he has been very calm on the radio barring his Bahrain shenanigans.

Helmut Marko is impressed with how Tsunoda is learning to keep himself calm during high-intensity Grand Prix events.

There have been four races and Yuki has brought the car into Q3 three times. He is consistent and his lack of control on the radio is also gone.

Helmut Marko said in an interview with Sky Germany

The ongoing campaign is four rounds down and Yuki Tsunoda has so far managed to score a commendable seven points. Next up on the F1 calendar is the Chinese Grand Prix and Tsunoda would once again eye a top 10 finish at the event.
