Havertz Pursuing Henry’s Goal-Scoring Record

Kai Havertz’s recent hot streak in front of goal has been a key factor in our rise to the Premier League summit, and now has him chasing down a certain Thierry Henry milestone.

The German international has scored in each of his last four league appearances, finding the net in our big wins over Burnley, Sheffield United and Newcastle United, before a late winner sealed a precious three points against Brentford in our last league outing.

That has seen him already claim a little piece of top-flight trivia, as he has become the first German to score in four matches in a row in Premier League history, surpassing some illustrious names from his homeland in the process.

Jurgen Klinsmann netted in three games in a row on three separate occasions, while Dietmar Hamann, Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane also achieved the feat. Kai himself did so too in March 2022 at Chelsea, when the Clarets and Magpies were amongst his victims again, either side of scoring against Norwich City, but has now gone one better.

This glut of goals is the highlight of Kai’s time at Emirates Stadium so far as his first season in north London goes from strength to strength, and only one man has ever scored in more consecutive matches during his debut campaign for the club in the competition – and of course, it’s Henry.

Kai Havertz struggled to adapt to life at Arsenal following his £65m switch, but after three goals in his last five outings, is the German proving he is the all-action midfielder Mikel

After arriving on these shores from Juventus in 1999, our all-time top scorer famously took seven league games to get off the mark, before becoming virtually unstoppable.

Towards the end of that maiden campaign in March 2000, he marked his first north London derby by bagging the winner in a 2-1 win against Tottenham, before then scoring past Coventry City, Wimbledon, Leeds United, Watford, Chelsea and Sheffield Wednesday to make his name as one of the division’s most lethal marksmen.

No other player has scored in five consecutive games in their first Premier League campaign with us, meaning Havertz can take one step closer to emulating Henry’s seven-game streak should he get on the scoresheet at Manchester City this weekend.

He would also join an exclusive club of players to have racked up five or more consecutive goalscoring games, headlined by our two greatest finishers ever:
