For a little while, Hemsworth was flying the flag for TAG Heuer as an ambassador, showcasing watches like the Carrera Automatic Chronograph and a limited-edition Autavia Jack Heuer in the wild. But since leaving at gig, he’s shown a real love for Royal Oaks. His tastes are largely Swiss and octagonal but as of late, they’ve gone a bit diamond encrusted.
On the Cannes red carpet earlier this year, the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star brought out the bling with a Chopard Alpine Eagle. It still falls in the realm of luxury sports watches (the kind we’re used to seeing him wear), but with its 18k diamond-set gold case and sapphire-packed bezel it’s on the louder end of things. The watch was loaned to Chris by Chopard for the premiere, and could have been the catalyst for future glitzy additions to his collection.
Because only a few months later, Hemsworth made another blingy watch move whilst promoting his latest movie Transformers One, where he was seen in what looks like a Platinum Rolex Daytona (ref 116576TBR). Set with 36 baguette-cut diamonds, this is a bling-king appropriate watch if we’ve ever seen one. Getting your hands on one of these for under £100k might be a bit of a mission but for Hollywood henchman Chris Hemsworth, it’s a hill sprint in the park.
This string of blingy timepieces is actually part of a growing trend in the world of men’s watches. “As men continue to step up their jewellery game on the red carpet, the same can be seen with an increase in statement watches, with people choosing styles adorned with diamonds and gemstones that are aspirational timepieces,” says Jonathan Darracott, Bonhams Global Head of Watches.
