Chennedy Carter declares Angel Reese for WNBA Rookie of the Year Over Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky teammates believe she should be taken more seriously in the race for WNBA Rookie of the Year.
On Friday night, Reese recorded a career-high 27 points and ten rebounds, marking her twelfth consecutive double-double. This streak ties a record set by Candace Parker over a decade ago, spanning the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Chennedy Carter, who led the Sky with 33 points in their win over Seattle, voiced her support for Reese on the ION broadcast after the game. “Barbie’s Rookie of the Year. There’s no other way to put it,” said Carter.
Reese’s remarkable performances and consistency have solidified her status as a strong contender for the league’s top rookie honor.

Reese is one of the front runners, but faces some stiff competition from Indiana’s Caitlin Clark “She steps onto the court and delivers every single night, regardless of the opponent. I’m telling you, Barbie’s Rookie of the Year, no doubt about it.”
Angel Reese will face tough competition for the honor, notably from Indiana Fever standout rookie, Caitlin Clark.

On Saturday, Clark made WNBA history by recording the first triple-double ever by a rookie, scoring 19 points to lead her team to victory over the New York Liberty. This latest achievement adds to the ever-growing rivalry between Clark and Reese, matchup that has driven up attendance all season.
Reese averages 13.9 points per game and leads the league with 11.7 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Clark is among the league’s top scorers and assist leaders, though she has struggled with turnovers.
Both rising stars will join forces when Team WNBA takes on Team USA at the WNB All-Star Game on July 20.
