Brittney Griner’s WNBA Welcome to Caitlin Clark Has Fans in Tears

The Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury are facing off on Sunday in what has been one of the most hyped WNBA matches of the 2024 regular season.

Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner (42) reacts against the Seattle Storm during the first half at Footprint Center in Phoenix on Aug. 5, 2023.

This marks the first time Caitlin Clark and the Fever have played Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and the Mercury this season. It will be the only time the Fever play the Mercury on the road in 2024.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Clark’s exchange with Griner, the Mercury center, drew a great deal of attention.

Seconds before the tip, Griner approached Clark right after Taurasi and gave the rookie a heartfelt hug.
