When Edgar Belangar demanded a KO victory over Canelo Alvarez in the sixth round, the Mexican boxer felt that “I want to do it.” Canelo said that he also wanted a KO victory in the fight to defend his WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles at the T-Mobile Arena this Saturday.
In response to the statement “I will knock Canelo out in the sixth round of the Chosen One,” Canelo immediately responded in the face-to-face encounter before stepping into the ring: “It is easy to say that you are going to knock me out, but it is much more difficult to do it!”
“This Saturday night, everything will be very difficult for him. I have also prepared for a KO victory like this. I love the feeling of a KO victory. I will do everything to do it.”
At the T-Mobile Arena, Canelo will defend his 3 WBA (Super), WBC and WBO championships. The reason he did not defend the IBF title after “unifying the world” in his weight class (similar to Oleksandr Usyk in the heavyweight division) was because of the problem related to the organization’s number 1 challenger.
According to the IBF, he had to have a mandatory title defense against the IBF super middleweight number 1 challenger, William Scull (a Cuban currently living in Germany, with a record of 22 wins). But in the end, he chose Berlanga as his opponent.
For his part, Berlanga once again affirmed his ambition to win by KO. He promised about the fight that will take place on Mexican Independence Day: “It will be a fierce shootout. “I will make everyone believe in me.”
“I am an artist of the KO game. Any boxer, when he enters the ring, wants to win by KO. We know he is a legend and we will not just wave our arms and attack him.
“We have to win the knockout the right way. Win the knockout in the sixth round. That’s what we’ll do. But we’re also ready for a 12-round battle if it has to be that way,” Berlanga firmly stated.
