The Chicago Sky have struggled since the Olympic break, having dropped five-straight games after falling to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Friday.

Despite her team’s struggles, All-Star rookie Angel Reese has put up historic numbers since the break. Averaging 12.1 points and a league-leading 16.1 rebounds since the WNBA schedule resumed, Reese remains on pace to break the league’s single season rebounding record in her rookie season.

In addition to her historic rebounding, Reese has also made history with her ability to record double-doubles. In Friday’s loss to Indiana, Reese set the WNBA’s single-season double-double record with her 23rd of the year.

Few players in basketball history have impacted the game on the glass the way Reese has in her rookie season. Averaging a league-best 12.9 rebounds, Reese has drawn comparisons to NBA legend Dennis Rodman.

Paying homage to Rodman as she entered the arena for Friday’s game against Indiana, Reese wore his Detroit Pistons jersey and received a four-word message from the NBA team:

Rodman began his NBA career in Detroit, spending seven seasons with the Pistons after being selected 27th overall in the 1986 NBA draft. Widely considered one of the greatest rebounders in NBA history, Rodman led the league in that category seven-straight seasons from 1992 to 1998.

Also a legend in Chicago where Reese plays, Rodman won three championships with the Chicago Bulls.

Wanting to also become a basketball legend in Chicago, Reese is well on her way to putting together an incredible WNBA career.
