There were some big names in attendance during Wednesday’s matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun. There was, arguably, no bigger star than 11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles, who decided to get herself some Caitlin Clark and WNBA action in Indianapolis.
As expected, Biles quickly caught the attention of the broadcast as they acknowledged her presence during the contest. The attendance of the most successful American gymnast in the game is a moment that the league just had to take note of as well.
So much so, that the WNBA issued a powerful two-word statement on Biles’ presence during the game.
“GOAT ALERT 🚨” the WNBA wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
As the post stated, Biles is now a seven-time Olympic gold medalist after bagging three more in the Paris Games (individual all-around, vault and team all-around competitions).
As for the basketball, Simone did not go home disappointed. Biles and the rest of the fans were treated to a nail-biter as Clark and Co. secured a hard-fought 84-80 victory on their home floor.
Clark, who just broke the WNBA record for the most three-pointers made by a rookie, finished with 19 points, five rebounds, five assists, a steal, a block and three triples in another outstanding all-around performance.
Up next for the Fever is a highly-anticipated matchup against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Friday. Biles likely won’t be in attendance for that one, but you can be sure that the basketball world will have its eyes locked in for that clash.
