Bologna have confirmed the departure of defender Riccardo Calafiori, with director Claudio Fenucci stating that the club is now in the market for a new centre-back.
Fenucci announced Calafiori’s exit during the unveiling press conference for new signing Thjis Dallinga on Friday.
“Calafiori’s exit forces us to look for a new centre-back,” he said. “We’ll wait for the end of the transfer window to see what we need.”
Meanwhile, Calafiori is set to join Arsenal, with the Italy international expected to undergo medical tests with the Gunners before linking up with the team in the USA.
The transfer fee is reportedly between €45m and €50m, including add-ons. Calafiori joined Bologna from Basel for just €4m last summer and made his senior Italy debut in June, starting in the Azzurri’s first EURO 2024 game against Albania.
