Max Verstappen broke his silence ahead of the Austrian GP as he received a heavy penalty

Max Verstappen hopes to take his winning feeling to Austria. The Dutchman was the best in Barcelona last weekend after an exciting battle against Lando Norris. The triple world champion has looked ahead to the Austrian Grand Prix in a statement from his team. Of course, the Red Bull Ring is home to Red Bull Racing, and Verstappen is looking to triumph at his team’s home for the fifth time in his career.
Max Verstappen previews the Austrian Grand Prix, the home race for Oracle Red Bull Racing at the Red Bull Ring: “We always feel really welcome and enjoy coming back to Austria, being a home race for Red Bull. The scenery and mountains around here are great and it is always good to see the Orange Army fans here and really feel that support from the grandstand.” The world champion continues: “It is another Sprint race this weekend, which always ends up being a hectic and busy weekend for us. It is really important to nail the set up of the car straight away and analyse how best we build and improve on our previous races, especially as qualifying is always close here. The track lends itself to a lot of overtaking so I’m sure it will be an exciting race. The Team performed well here last year so hopefully we can do the fans proud this weekend and bring it home with another win.”
Championship leader facing grid drop
With Verstappen being forced to use his fourth and final internal combustion engine of the season in Barcelona, after engine troubles hampered his practice in Canada.
Motorsport.com report that had there been any chance of his damaged engine from the Canadian Grand Prix been salvageable, it would have been returned to the team by now. It means the 61-time race winner is faced with the prospect of being handed a 10-place grid penalty.
With Norris emerging as a surprise challenger to Verstappen’s dominance this season, any drop could prove to be significant in what is becoming a frequent fight with McLaren for race wins.
