Brittney Griner Can’t Stand This Anymore! She Blasts WNBA for Ruining Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso’s Debut: “In No World Does It Make Sense…”
“Apologies!” The WNBA’s official X account broke news to the basketball world just a few hours before Chicago Sky’s first preseason game.
It was the first time fans would have watched former NCAA rivals Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso on the court together.
While the game wasn’t broadcasted, a fan in the Target Center dug up an illegal way as a solution. But many were left heartbroken. Amongst them was Phoenix’s WNBA champion Brittney Griner.
Apparently, the sudden announcement of the WNBA app or the TV not broadcasting some of the preseason games, including Chicago vs Minnesota, was a shock to the basketball fans.
Taking note of the issue, the 9x WNBA All-Star shared an Instagram story saying, “It’s wild they didn’t have this game on League Pass! But they did what they wanted! In no world does it make sense not to have these two young ladies’ game on the app!”.
She, in turn, had shared a post by the High Level Media Sports. Right after the apologetic tweet by the WNBA, the sports news company posted, “The WNBA is wild embarrassing.
To not have Angel Reese and Kamila cordossa games on the league pass is insane. Angel Reese is one of the reasons why women’s basketball is getting so much attention.”
Tonight’s game which ran parallel to the Indiana Fever vs Dallas Wings was not being televised, streamed, or available with the League Pass. However, it was not on the WNBA, something that many fans portrayed it to be.
Why did the WNBA have to snub Angel Reese and Co.?
After the news blasted the internet, a whirlwind of comments flew in from the fans. Many of these blamed the association for pushing just one player, that is Caitlin Clark, to continue a narrative.
However, according to the WNBA and Athlon ports, it was an issue with the broadcaster itself. Bally Sports North, who was supposed to telecast the Sky vs Minnesota game tonight, had other plans. When the choice came, they went with the Major Baseball League team with whom they had recently struck a new TV deal.
However, the turn of events disappointed a large number of Chi-Town Barbie fans. She is one of the transformative energies that women’s basketball has seen over the last couple of years. Not bringing her game to the awaiting viewers did not sit well with the basketball world.
Nevertheless, the WNBA has clearly stated that not all of their preseason games will be broadcast. The fans can still rejoice in the fact that the regular season will be available with the league passes on the WNBA app and also on TV.
Don’t look now Caitlin Clark fans. Social media is convinced that the Iowa vs. UConn Final Four game was “rigged” in favor of the Hawkeyes following a controversial finish in a thrilling back-and-forth affair.
The Huskies were trailing by just one point with less than 10 seconds to go as they moved up the court into Iowa territory, looking for the game-winning basket. Aaliyah Edwards tried to set a screen, but the officials called an offensive foul which resulted in a change of possession:

The controversial call led to Caitlin Clark getting fouled, and she made one of two free throws to increase the lead to two. Though she missed the second free throw, the Hawkeyes regained possession and were able to drain the clock for a 71-69 win to punch their ticket to the finals.
Unfortunately, the questionable call will remain a key talking point for years to come, even though this will go down as one of the greatest games in history. The NCAA doesn’t want to hear this, but plenty of fans took to X/Twitter and accused them of “rigging” the game for Iowa:
Iowa Vs UConn was rigged 😭😭😭this was not an offensive foul on Aaliyah Edwards .. and did everyone see the promo for the documentary of the women’s college national championship with South Carolina and Iowa before the game was over ? … hey man.. #IowavsUConn #caitlinclark pic.twitter.com/053VpcNSAs

It’s be way easier if they would just admit it was rigged.

Womens bball might be rigged…
Calling an offensive foul on a SCREEN w/ 5 seconds left is absurd.
Feel bad for the UConn girls not even getting a chance there.

I’ve lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money… Or ratings in not sure which. I won’t be silent . Just saw it live sry.

The Sports Are Rigged argument just gained a huge piece of supporting evidence. This is horrible https://t.co/RXQl2XEdTE

Refs did uconn so dirty on that offensive foul call. You can’t call that there. The fix is in. That’s proof right there these games are rigged.

If that call on UConn isn’t proof sports are rigged then I don’t know what to tell you. Had to get the best college basketball player of all time in the finals somehow

With the victory, Iowa reaches the National Championship Game for the second straight year. A year ago, they lost to Angel Reese’s LSU Tigers by a final score of 102-85. Iowa, of course, would get a nice piece of revenge by eliminating LSU in the Elite 8.
Iowa will meet South Carolina in the National Championship Game on Sunday.
Caitlin Clark & Iowa Get A Chance At Redemption
The all-time leading scorer in NCAA basketball has a near-perfect resume. The only thing missing is a national championship, and now Caitlin Clark will get the chance to win it once and for all in what will be her last college game.
Clark previously announced that she’s headed to the WNBA, and the 22-year-old is a virtual lock to go first overall to the Indiana Fever, who own the top selection.
Staley says her mom would be ‘super proud’ being from South Carolina.
In recognition of her commitment to the South Carolina Gamecocks’ women’s basketball team as well as the community, head coach Dawn Staley is being honored by the city of Columbia with a statue to be erected downtown, where a Confederate flag once stood for decades.
Staley, making an appearance on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” discussed the significance of the honor and noted that the statue of one of her best players, A’ja Wilson, already stands in the city.
“I wanted A’Ja Wilson to be the only USC athlete to be bestowed that honor,” Staley said before her Gamecocks’ contest against Georgia on Sunday. “It’s bigger than basketball, obviously. It’s something that the city of Columbia wanted. It wasn’t anything I politicked for. They wanted to bring it, they wanted to represent.”
“Our city’s diverse, our state is diverse. It’s awesome because there’s not very many women, let alone Black women, get bestowed … this honor.”
The city worked with Statues for Equality, an organization that aims to increase the number of women receiving honors for their contributions to their communities.
As someone with parents who were from South Carolina before moving to Philadelphia, Staley said she knows her mother would be “super proud.”
“I think it’s an incredible that I probably don’t know its significance as we sit here today,” Staley added.
Local businesses helped donate money for the statue, while Statues for Equality covered the remaining 50% that was needed to build it.
The statue, which was approved in February 2023, shows Staley cutting down a basketball net following a championship.
Championships have become synonymous with Staley’s program at USC, which she built from the ground up when she arrived in 2008. The Gamecocks have won two national titles with Staley leading the way (2017, 2022), and she owns a 426-106 career record with the program.
Staley has become a staple in Columbia, whether it’s on the court or in the community. The city is honoring her for it now.
