Rory McIlroy was seen singing in front of hundreds of fans while celebrating with Shane Lowry.

Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy brought out a surprising side of his following the triumph at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Shane Lowry. The North Irish golfer would belt out a rendition of “Don’t Stop Believin’” in front of several fans.

McIlroy and Lowry who have been good friends for a long time, decided to participate in this two-men team event last year after their victory at the Ryder Cup. Making his debut in this event this time out, the spotlight was certainly going to be on McIlroy.

He more than lived up to the expectations of many as he and Lowry combined together to forced a playoff against Martin Trainer and Chad Ramey, in which they later emerged as winners. This triumph turned out to be Rory McIlroy‘s 25th PGA Tour win whereas Lowry grabbed his first win (and third overall) on the tour since The Open Championship in 2019.

A video of the duo celebrating their success later went viral on social media. In the viral post, McIlroy can be seen showing off his vocals as he took part in a karaoke. The 34-year-old would start singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey.

Shane Lowry admits Rory McIlroy “carried” him to victory

Over the past few years, Shane Lowry had come close on several occasion on grabbing his third PGA Tour. However, he would come up short at the final hurdles and miss out on glory.

He now finally has his third PGA Tour victory, his first in almost five years. He though admitted that his playing partner, Rory McIlroy “carried” him to victory.

From the start it was McIlroy who did the heavy lifting. After making a bogey on the 17th hole, the duo found themselves off the track. However, McIlroy would drop in a great chip shot which Lowry later drained it to force a playoff.

The win gives them both 400 FedEx Cup points. Lowry would later joke that he felt a bit “bad” as he did not feel he was able to contribute as much as he wanted.

“We felt like coming into the week that we both could do with a big jump in the FedEx Cup, and we both said at the start of the week, let’s go and get 400 points each. That’s what we’ve done, and I nearly feel a little bit bad taking them because Rory carried me a lot of the way. But yeah, they’re mine, and they’re not going away.” – Shane Lowry said as per CBS Sports.

The duo have now laid out their intention to come and defend this title next year. It is likely that the two golfers will take the week off and sit out at the upcoming The CJ CUP Byron Nelson tournament from Texas.
