Greg Norman takes SWIPE at PGA Tour, claims feeling ‘sorry’ for LIV Golf critics following success in Adelaide

Greg Norman took a jibe at their doubters following the success of LIV Golf Adelaide.

Following the success of LIV Golf Adelaide, two-time major champion Greg Norman took a massive swipe at the PGA Tour and the doubters of breakaway tour. The “Great White Shark” claimed he felt “sorry” for the critics of LIV Golf.

Norman, the CEO of LIV Golf, was in attendance this week at the Grange Country Club as he watched Brendan Steele and the all-Aussie, Rippers GC claim the individual and team title respectively. While both of this triumphs were equally iconic in their own rights, Norman was more happy to see the turnout of the fans.

After the event, LIV Golf announced a record-attendance of more than 94,000. The 2023 event which was later named as the “Best Golf Event of the Year” by World Golf Awards, had drawn in around 77,000 fans over the three days. This meant this year, the event brought in more fans than before.

This lead to Greg Norman having a go at the doubters of LIV Golf and taking an indirect jab at the PGA Tour. In the past one and a half year, the Saudi-funded tour has been subjected to several trolls on social media with many claiming that their product is not good enough compared to the traditional PGA Tour.

“Vindication is not the right word. It’s the ignorance of others who simply didn’t understand what we were trying to do. I actually feel sorry for them because they now see the true value of LIV Golf and want to be a part of it.” – Greg Norman said as per Australian Golf Digest.

“The support Australia gave me during my own playing career for decades was something I have never forgotten. It’s why I brought LIV Golf back home… I did it for them… I knew they would support this event. I’m feeling extremely proud right now.” – Greg Norman said.

Norman and his co. will now turn their attention towards to LIV Golf Singapore which will take place at the Sentosa Golf Club from May 3 to 5. After that, the next event, LIV Golf Houston will take place in June, three weeks after the PGA Championship at the Valhalla Golf Course at Oak Hill where Brooks Koepka will be aiming to defend his crown.
