Lionel Messi has reacted to inspiring Inter Miami to “another win”, with the Argentine icon at his brilliant best against the New England Revolution.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has taken his goal tally for the 2024 campaign to 11 through just 10 appearances after bagging a stunning brace at Gillette Stadium. Messi also registered an assist as the Herons ran out comfortable 4-1 winners in front of 65,000 spectators in Massachusetts.
Inter Miami fell behind inside 60 seconds against the Revolution, but came storming back to claim three more points. Messi had them level before half-time, and got their noses in front just past the hour mark. Benjamin Cremaschi and Luis Suarez wrapped up the win late on.
Messi has been in stunning form of late, after shaking off a troublesome hamstring complaint, and is delighting in a productive run for Inter Miami that has seen them pick up three successive victories. The all-time great posted on social media after the latest of those triumphs: “Another win to keep adding up!”
WHAT NEXT FOR INTER MIAMI?
The wins certainly are stacking up for Inter Miami, as they sit top of the MLS Eastern Conference. They now hold a three-point lead over the chasing pack, although they have played a game more than closest rivals FC Cincinnati.
